Water is life

The significance of water in the life of any community cannot be underestimated. For this reason, members of the twin cocoa growing community of Akoti-Traio were very grateful to Nestlé and its partner Armajaro SourceTrust for providing them with a borehole in July, 2011.
The borehole has become the permanent water source for approximately 1200 people in Akoti -Traio.
Previously, the inhabitants had to depend on surface ponds created by rainfall or travel several kilometers to fetch water. Children could not fully concentrate on their education because they had to first search for water before they go to school. The community also had to endure persistent water borne diseases as their source of water was unsafe for consumption.
Now, they have access to potable water all year round and neither children nor their parents have to travel long distances in search of water. Most importantly, they have a healthier community.
They say Ayekoo (Well done!) to Nestlé and Armajaro SourceTrust!
