The most important Nestlé initiative, to help farmers and improve long term cocoa quality and sustainability, is the propagation of what we call high potential plantlets, which support the large scale production of top quality cocoa trees.

Our Research and Development (R&D) Centre in Tours, France, works with its sister R&D Centre in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as well as other research institutes for example the CNRA (Centre National de Recherche Agronomique). This is the Ivorian Agricultural Research Centre, partly state funded that works with a number of partners on various research programmes in Côte d’Ivoire. We partner the CNRA specifically to extend our plant propagation.
