In the present era, an irrigation system is completely necessary, since we obtain a better growth of the plant and a good production, which improves the economic income of the farmers for their its homes.
Either The lack or excess of irrigation in cocoa cultivation can have an impact on the growth of the plant, causing diseases due to a large amount of water availability or even a possible death of the plant caused by drought with respect of the soil texture.
Nowadays, there exists soils, which their texture is completely necessary to apply an irrigation system. For this reason, Nestlé Ecuador, through its Cocoa Plan program, coordinated efforts with Banarriego company, to train 110 farmers of Vinces, Mocahe, Quevedo and El Empalme, areas of Los Ríos province through a theoretical-practical workshop, where participants had the opportunity to observe and discuss about irrigation problems in these areas. They cleared their doubts about how to install properly an irrigation system and materials needed for its application.
